CRY Organized State level media engagement to commemorate National Girl Child Day at Hotel Vestin Park, Egmore Chennai. This interaction with Press and Media was held on 27 January 2023. CRY Partners Slum Children STEDS and others attended the event. On behalf of Slum Children STEDS, three young girls namely Ms.Janani, Ms. Yamuna and Ms. Kartheeswari represented during the event. The girls spoke in length on their struggle in overcoming child labor, child dropout and child marriage. They spoke about slum children STEDS involvement and contribution in rescuing them from these perennial evils of the society which continue to plague the predominant locality slums of Vyasarpadi. They also outlined in detailed the types of intervention [Slum home visit, identification through children collective, counseling parent/guardian and children, motivation, diversion through area of interest, providing essential requirements and suitable supports] followed by slum children STEDS in transforming their lives with identification of hidden talents and methodology of showcasing the talents to outside world. They also detailed about the tools used by SCSTEDS for bringing change namely participation in sports and education.
